Based on William Shakespeare's romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, Unrequited is an immersive theatrical event that takes small audiences through the Cultural Center as they follow the Characters through the story. Out of courtesy we stayed until intermission when a small throng of people joined us in a mad dash for the door. Call it a "Chorus" or "Choral" but musical is reserved for Wicked, Lion King, or Rent. I appreciate that the local community comes together to put these programs on but don't call a Titanic church choir slideshow. (That said, those 3 voices could make an entrance on off-broadway.) If that wasn't enough to make a quick exit only 3 of the 20+ voices were enjoyable. It was like Wikipedia put to impromptu melodies. Without exaggeration, a choir in tuxes brandished folders and sang hardly tolerable story-driven biographies to a powerpoint of overused pictures. It's possible that they put on excellent shows but Titanic the "Musical" was nothing but disappointing tunes. Having only a weekend to enjoy Pensacola the reviews on this page helped us choose Pensacola Little Theatre.
